How to dress your body type




There are five main types of female body shape:

(1) Apple shape (or round),
(2) Pear shape (or triangle/ bottom heavy),
(3) Strawberry shape (or inverted triangle/ top heavy),
(4) Hourglass shape (or curvy)
(5) Rectangle shape (also known as straight, ruler, or boyish)


Let's look at the apple shape, first!


If you are the Apple of someone’s eye then you’re pretty in proportion but tend to carry your weight around your mid section without a well-defined waist. You may also have fabulous legs and/or boobs so dressing is all about showing off those best bits and avoiding adding volume round your middle.

Your best :
Empire line and longer length tops will flatter your figure. Go for low-is necklines to draw the eye upwards.

To avoid:
Short, boxy jackets and pleated or tiered skirts are not your friends. Cast them out now and feel forever better.

Apple Tops:

Master the art of layering to streamline your shape and emphasis your bust. Fine gauge fabrics will work well for you.


Apple tops to be tempted by

Go for a low or embellished neckline, or a V-neck

Longer length tops and tunics are perfect

Sleeve details will draw eyes away from your tum


Apple tricky to wear tops

Bulky knits are a definite no

Avoid round neck T-shirts either baggy or tight

Never wear a top only part way buttoned down


Apple Jeans & Trousers

You may have slender legs but don’t show them off in tight trousers as your middle will look bigger in contrast.

Flat fronted, semi low rise trousers suit your shape

Boot cut or flared jeans/ trousers will bring balance

Choose styles with a little bit of stretch for comfort


Apple wrong trousers

Don’t go for tapered trousers or skinny jeans

High-waisted styles add bulk where you don’t want it

Avoid pleats and gathers at all costs
